Located in the serene embrace of Fushimi Ward in Kyoto, Inari Saryo stands as a delightful haven for matcha enthusiasts and dessert lovers alike. This charming cafe is not only a place to savor exquisite Japanese sweets but also a tranquil spot to unwind after exploring the iconic Inari Shrine just moments away.

At Inari Saryo, the ambiance is cozy and inviting, perfect for enjoying a leisurely afternoon. Whether you choose to sit inside, surrounded by traditional decor, or outside where you can soak in the picturesque view, every moment feels special. The cafe pays homage to its namesake, the Shinto god of rice, which is reflected in both the menu and the overall aesthetic.

Among the top draws on the menu is their Uji Matcha, renowned for its smooth, rich flavor that captures the essence of premium green tea. As one delighted customer, Paul Daniel Bibat, noted, the Uji Matcha and Japanese sweets set is a must-try, especially when paired with their Uji Matcha soft serve ice cream. This refreshing treat, served in a charming cone alongside whimsical rice cookies adorned with fox designs, is not overly sweet, making it a perfect complement to the delightful sweetness of the accompanying Japanese sweets.

For those who appreciate an artistic touch in their desserts, the Inari Parfait is a stunning visual feast, featuring a variety of textures that come together harmoniously. Lucy Cooke raves, "Best and most beautiful parfait I’ve had in Japan!" Each parfait is accompanied by an informative guide that describes its unique components, truly enriching the dining experience.

While the desserts dazzle in appearance, the quality of the matcha shines just as brightly in both the parfait and the ice cream. Leh Ping shares their experience of enjoying cold matcha soba and a red bean dessert, noting the refreshing nature of the soba, although wishing for a slightly larger portion. The red bean's sweetness might be a touch intense for some, but it remains an integral part of the matcha experience.

Jessica Tan reflects on the perfect post-shrine respite offered by Inari Saryo, suggesting that patrons choose an outdoor table for the best views. It’s the ideal setting to relax your legs while indulging in ceremonial Japanese tea and taking delicious bites of dessert. Visitors often comment on the beautifully crafted presentations, with Alessandro Stefan asserting that the decor and aesthetics are just as appealing as the flavors, adding to the overall experience of the cafe.

Inari Saryo captures the heart of traditional Japanese cafe culture, inviting its guests not just to enjoy delectable treats but also to appreciate the artistry that goes into each dish. If you find yourself wandering through Kyoto, make sure to stop by this gem for a taste of Japan’s exquisite matcha and a serene ambiance that will leave you refreshed and enchanted.

We ordered their Uji Matcha and Japanese sweets set and Uji Matcha soft serve ice cream. The matcha is so smooth and the Japanese sweets (I forgot what it is specifically called but contains what appears to be red bean filling) goes well with the matcha. The matcha soft shave in a cone is served with some rice cookies (designed with foxes). The soft shave is refreshing and not too sweet! There is an option to dine in al fresco and one can stay there for 45 mins max. Free hot rice tea is available. Service is good and guides foreign customers. After a tiring walk along Fushimi Inari, Inari Saryo offers a good respite where one can savor matcha while admiring the wonders around.

Best and most beautiful parfait I’ve had in Japan! I love that it comes with a little guide explaining all the different components of the parfait; it has lots of rice elements (eg puffed rice) to honour Inari, the Shinto god of rice, who the shrine is of course named for. The quality of the matcha in both the parfait and the ice cream is also top. If you love matcha, this is for you. They also have a really efficient queue system where you register at a machine, choosing balcony or inside seat, and then get to chill in a nice covered seating area with a view of the gardens while you wait.

The parfait was not only visually stunning but also tasted delicious. There were many elements layered within that gave different texture which is really enjoyable. We also ordered the cold matcha soba and a matcha dessert with red bean. The soba was refreshing and enjoyable, though the portion was a little small. The red bean was slightly too sweet for my liking. We took a number and waited for about five minutes on a Sunday around 1.30pm. They also provide a free rest area for everyone, including those who are not dining at the shop. I would be happy to revisit, especially for the photogenic and tasty parfait if I have the chance.

Finally trying the popular parfait from this place ^^ After a long walk inside the shrine, this place offers you a great spot to enjoy the view and resting your wobbly legs, while sipping the tea and taking a big bites for the dessert. I would recommend you to sit outside for a better view.

I tried here green tea, and the Inari Parfait. Also i bought Matcha. The Parfait was more the looks, it tasted ok, but the selling point is the decorations and how gorgeous it looks. Do i regret buying it? No, I don't. But i can tell you the taste is just ok, not a big deal, but what makes this worthwhile is how it's decorated. The place has a nice, beautiful view, unfortunately a lot of people by the time i visited.

After a long walk, you will meet this cafe. It is a good place to rest while visit the shrine. I ordered Uji Matcha Latte, it tasted good but little bit strong. For matcha enthusiasts should try some of their menu. There is different menu/price for dine in at the cafe or at the rest area (take away packaging but you can’t take to the outside cafe area because of the trash).

It's raining day and we don't have much time so we just sit at Rest area outside. It's different price for in the cafe and outside. Staffs were considering and all clear to the price and what you will get. We had soft serve that serve in a cup. It's nice and tasty.
